“Nature” has played an extremely important role in traditional Chinese aesthetics and art. How this theme has changed in modern China, and what are the causes and consequences of these changes, are the central questions that cannot be bypassed in understanding and grasping Chinese painting in the 20th century. This book focuses on two intersecting clues: one is the contextual relationship of art history itself, and the evolution of artistic language in forms and styles; and the other is the influence of social reality and cultural thought, which are closely linked to art history, on the changes in the form of art language.
