Tsinghua Medical Journal Conference Held in Beijing
On January 18, 2025, the Tsinghua Medical Journal Conference, part of a series of events promoting high-quality development through scientific and technological innovation in public hospitals, was held in Beijing. The conference was organized by Tsinghua Medicine at Tsinghua University (TU) and Tsinghua University Press (TUP), and co-organized by School of Clinical Medicine (SCM), TU, Hainan Hongji Medical Development Foundation, and Fosun Pharma. Several medical journals, including Journal of Neurorestoratology, iLIVER, Infectious Medicine, Cancer Innovation, Health Care Science, iLABMED, iRADIOLOGY, Medicine Advances, Organ Medicine, Oral Science and Homeostatic Medicine, Translational Neuroscience and Clinics, Brain Science Advances, and Stress and Brain, provided academic support for the event.

The conference was hosted by SUN Yu, Deputy General Editor of TUP.
In his opening remarks, ZHANG Zongjiu emphasized the crucial role of sci-tech innovation in driving the high-quality development of public hospitals. He highlighted the importance of academic journals as platforms for knowledge exchange, which not only spread high-quality information but also serve as vital bridges for global collaboration in medical innovation. He observed that TUP’s medical journals publishing has fostering the convergence of Chinese and international medical practices. Zhang urged the editorial teams from all journals to share the findings of their work over the previous year and to engage in deep dialogues to further advance the high-quality development of public hospitals and prospects of the healthcare sector.
Academician WANG Songling underscored the nation's emphasis on academic publishing, particularly in the field of medical journals, recognizing them as a crucial element in translating scientific breakthroughs into concrete outcomes. He stressed that medical innovation and the training of medical talents are interconnected, and that attention should be given to China’s clinical medical education paradigm to bolster the "Healthy China" initiative. Recounting the evolution of Capital Medical University, he shared insights on resource integration and academic development, explaining the strong connection between the growth of journals and the advancement of hospitals and universities. Wang expressed optimism that, through collaborative endeavors, China’s nurturing of medical talent, research efforts, and the overall healthcare system would reach new heights.
SUN Yu, Deputy General Editor of TUP, elaborated on TUP’s mission to "disseminating advanced culture and promoting social progress" since its inception. She emphasized the emphasis TUP places on developing academic journals. The Life Sciences and Medicine Editorial Branch of TUP has successfully launched 13 English journals, including Journal of Neurorestoratology, iLIVER, Infectious Medicine, Cancer Innovation, Health Care Science, iLABMED, iRADIOLOGY, Medicine Advances, Organ Medicine, Oral Science and Homeostatic Medicine, Translational Neuroscience and Clinics, Brain Science Advances, and Stress and Brain. TUP has built a collaborative matrix of medical journals and established a network for medical education, training, and international research cooperation, creating a platform for global biomedical researchers to share knowledge and ideas.
To promote the innovative, high-quality development of medical journals, the conference also included a report on the summary and evaluation of the Tsinghua Medical Journals. Experts discussed the current status, challenges, and future plans for the 10 journals, offering constructive feedback and practical recommendations.
The insightful presentations and in-depth discussions provided valuable perspectives and inspiration for the future development of Tsinghua Medical Journals. Looking ahead, Tsinghua Medical Journals will continue to embrace the principles of "innovation, intelligence, globalization, and integration", strive to improve content quality, enhance brand development, and expand communication channels, and remain committed to the goal of "building world-class STEM journals and a world power in science and technology".
