On April 27, the book launch for The Imprint of Idyllic Tsinghua (Revised Edition) and the Tsinghua Culture Seminar took place at the Multifunctional Hall of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University (TU). The event, co-organized by the School of Journalism and Communication and Tsinghua University Press (TUP),  was attended by HU Xianzhang, former Under-Secretary of CPC Committee of Tsinghua University (TU), FAN Baolong, former Director of the Tsinghua University Archives and Tsinghua University History Museum, HU Yu, the author and Professor at the SJC, and ZHAO Xin, President of TUP.

Since its initial release in 2017, The Imprint of Idyllic Tsinghua has received widespread acclaim as a key work promoting Tsinghua University’s culture. It has been included in the recommended reading list for the university’s “Freshman Orientation Course”. The revised edition enriches the original with over ten new articles by Professor HU Yu, alongside hand-drawn illustrations by students from the Academy of Arts & DesignTU, further enhancing its depth and appeal.

At the launch ceremony, HU Yu explained that the revision aims to amplify TU’s cultural impact, ensuring its relevance in contemporary education and societal development. He emphasized that sharing Tsinghua’s culture is not only a contribution to the university but also to society as a whole, expressing hope that the book would convey the essence of Tsinghua’s culture and inspire younger generations.

HU Xianzhang described the book as “a quest for the Tsinghua spirit by those who cherish the university”. He emphasized that while every institution has a unique culture, continuous efforts are needed to distill and promote it.

FAN Baolong highlighted that the book reflects the author’s three-decade connection to TU, and captures his emotional and cultural ties to the university, as well as his commitment to nurturing students. This work imbued with warmth will serve as a bridge across generations and help young students gain spiritual nourishment.

ZHAO Xin stressed that preserving Tsinghuas cultural identity demands both thoughtful reflection and vibrant storytelling--capturing the universitys enduring spirit through narratives that weave together scientific pursuit and humanistic ideals into a living cultural tapestry. He affirmed TUP’s ongoing commitment to upholding these values through publication of more impactful works.

Other distinguished guests, including LIANG Junjian, Head of the CPC Committee Graduate Student Work Department at TU, JIN Fujun, Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University History Museum, ZHANG Zheng, Associate Dean of the SJC at TU, ZHUANG Chen, Director of the CPC Committee Office of the SJC, SUN Man, Manager of the “Tsinghua Impression” cultural and creative products at the TU Education Foundation, and ZHANG Enze, Head of the Yejiaxuan Reading Experience Center, all praised the book for its insightful exploration of Tsinghua’s culture, campus life, and humanistic values.
