Recent advances in AI—particularly GPT models like ChatGPT—have shown remarkable capabilities in content understanding and generation, drawing significant attention across industries. For the communications sector, these developments bring both new opportunities and notable challenges.

This book begins with an overview of GPT's evolution, then explores its specific applications in communications. It also examines future trends in the integration of GPT and telecommunications, the challenges this convergence may face, and offers practical recommendations.

Readers will gain a solid understanding of GPT large models and learn how to apply them in communication-related contexts. This book is intended for technical professionals and managers in information and communications, as well as master's and doctoral students in fields such as communications, electronics, computer science, automation, and cybersecurity.

ZENG Jie, Associate Professor, Special Researcher, and Ph.D. Supervisor at Beijing Institute of Technology; holds dual Ph.D.'s in Communications and Computer Science. His research focuses on integrating AI foundation models with communications, as well as low-latency, high-reliability communications. He has published over 50 SCI-indexed journal papers, authored five academic monographs (Chinese/English), and holds more than 80 granted patents.

YANG Yifan, Ph.D. candidate at the School of Cyberspace Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology. His research interests include 6G wireless communications and the integration of AI foundation models with communications.

SU Xin, Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University; Deputy Director, Center for Wireless and Mobile Communications Technology, Tsinghua University; Member of the Expert Group and Head of the Wireless Technology Working Group, China's IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group. His work covers wireless communications theory and technology, network architecture and applications, and high-speed data transmission and services—spanning research, teaching, and standardization.

LYU Tiejun, Professor, Member of the Academic Committee, and Ph.D. Supervisor at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, focusing on signal processing, communication theory, and networks.

ZHONG Yi, Tenured Associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at Beijing Institute of Technology, researching intelligent IoT and integrated sensing and communication, with over 60 papers in journals/conferences including CVPR, ICCV, and IEEE TIP.

YUAN Xin, holder of a dual Ph.D. from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and the University of Technology Sydney, applies AI and machine learning to image/signal processing, data analysis, and cybersecurity.
