The Kitchen God: The little daughter of Jade Emperor went to the mortal world for fun and met a kind-hearted young man. She secretly betrothed herself to him. The Jade Emperor was furious upon learning that his daughter had married a poor cook. The Queen Mother pleaded for her little daughter. In the end, the Jade Emperor had to let them be Kitchen God and Kitchen Goddess. Every New Year’s day, the Kitchen Goddess would bring back gifts from the heaven and distribute them to everyone. People would have ample food and drink to celebrate the lunar New Year with joy. From then on, people called the young man and the little princess “Kitchen God” and “Kitchen Goddess”.
