This book collects materials on the chemical components of TCM herbs and divided them to 9 categories: Phenylpropanes and tannins, glycosides, flavonoids, volatile oils and terpenes, quinones, sugars and alkaloids. It introduces the name, structure, source, physicochemical property, pharmacology and major use. It is the first book to use computer software to simulate and calculate the absorption, distribution, metabolism, discharge and toxicology of TCM herbs.

Xu Jun is professor, supervisor of doctoral candidate and Director of the Center for Drug Design and Synthesis, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; mainly engaged in studying the structural modification of Chinese herbal medicinal ingredients.

Meng Fanhao is Doctor of Pharmacy, professor and supervisor of doctoral candidate of the School of Pharmacy, China Medical University; mainly engaged in studying drug design, drug development, drug structure-activity, and drug structure-toxicity relationships.

Yang Ming is chief professor, doctoral supervisor and Vice President of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; member of Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission; and entitled to the government expert-level subsidy. He has been dedicated to studying traditional Chinese medicine pharmaceutical system, and renowned for his expertise in Chinese herbal medicine processing, preparations, health product development and pharmaceutical equipment.
