On 11th September, 2025, Circular Economy (ISSN:2773-1677) has been officially included in the ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) database, which is part of the Web of Science Core Collection owned by Clarivate. Articles published in the journal since 2022, starting from Volume 1, Issue 1, will all be included in the ESCI database, and Circular Economy will receive its first impact factor in 2026!
Since it starts publication, Circular Economy has been successively included in internationally renowned databases such as Scopus and Ei Compendex. Its CiteScore 2024, released in June 2025, is 10.0, ranking 27 (top 10%) in the Environmental Science (miscellaneous) subject category. Being included in ESCI, a globally significant database, indicates that the academic level of Circular Economy has been further recognized by the international academic community. This achievement is of great importance for expanding the journal's reach, increasing its visibility, and enhancing its academic influence.

Circular Economy
Circular Economy is a journal hosted by Tsinghua University, published by Tsinghua University Press, and distributed globally by Elsevier Inc. The editor-in-chief is Professor LI Jinhui from Tsinghua University. Launched in September 2022, the journal is published quarterly. To date, 4 volumes comprising 13 issues have been released, featuring a total of 84 articles. Authors of these papers come from 35 countries, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Austria, and are affiliated with leading institutions such as the University of California, Waseda University, University College London, and Tsinghua University. Since its inaugural issue three years ago, Circular Economy has been indexed by major databases including ESCI, Scopus, and Ei Compendex. As of September 2025, the journal has received a total of 1,546 citations in Scopus, with the most cited paper --co-authored by researchers from Tsinghua University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on e-waste recycling--accumulating 246 citations. Thirty-seven papers have been cited more than 10 times on average. Citing authors come from 112 countries, and the journal has been referenced in 148 publications, including top-tier journals in the field such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources Conservation and Recycling, and Waste Management. The CiteScore 2024, released in June 2025, is 10.0, placing the journal at 27th (top 10%) in the Environmental Science (miscellaneous) subject category. Circular Economy is expected to receive its first impact factor in June 2026.
