On the morning of October 7 (local time), at 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair, Tsinghua University Press (TUP) and Springer Nature jointly held a launch event themed "Chinese Scholarship in Global Dialogue: New Frontiers in Meaning and Translation," officially releasing the English editions of two monographs: New Perspectives and Developments in Chinese Semantics and New Developments in Cognitive Translation and Interpreting Studies. Dr. SUN Yu, Associate General Editor of TUP, hosted the event. Also attending the event were ZHAO Xin, President of TUP; Myriam Poort, Vice President of Humanities Books at Springer Nature; and Leana Li, Books Director of Springer Nature China.
The "Chinese Scholarship in Global Dialogue: New Frontiers in Meaning and Translation" book launch event takes place in Frankfurt Book Fair.
Before the ceremony began, the authors and translators of the two monographs, together with the experts who have endorsed the series, introduced the background and core content of each book in video messages, giving the audience a direct view of the two books' scholarly context and significance.
Opening the event, President ZHAO Xin delivered welcome remarks. Noting that TUP has long been committed to advancing Chinese scholarship globally, he said that TUP has long advanced multilingual publishing to share Chinese research in science, technology, and the humanities with readers worldwide. At a time when artificial intelligence is pushing questions about the nature of "understanding" and "meaning" beyond the boundaries of traditional linguistics, he noted, the two monographs offer a systematic response to these emerging questions. He expressed the hope that TUP and Springer Nature would continue to uncover more valuable Chinese scholarship and take their cooperation to new heights.
Ms. Myriam Poort then delivered remarks on behalf of Springer Nature. The two monographs, she said, systematically summarize a decade of innovative research by Chinese scholars and offer overseas scholars a valuable window into the latest developments in translation studies and semantics in China. She expressed the hope of deepening cooperation with TUP to foster in-depth dialogue and mutually reinforcing exchange between Chinese and Western scholarship.
At the release ceremony, President ZHAO Xin and Ms. Myriam Poort, on behalf of both organizations, took the stage together and inscribed copies of the two English editions as mementos. With a handshake, they officially announced the global release of the two monographs.

New Developments in Cognitive Translation and Interpreting Studies, edited by WEN Xu, LIU Jin, and XIAO Kairong and translated by SU Wenchao and ZHAO Xiaoxing, was jointly published by TUP and Springer. First published in Chinese by TUP in 2021, the book presents a decade of achievements in Chinese cognitive translation studies, spanning cognitive translation, cognitive interpreting, classics translation, and human–machine interactive translation.
New Perspectives and Developments in Chinese Semantics, authored by WEN Xu and TANG Ruiliang and translated by MU Junfang, was likewise jointly published by TUP and Springer, with its Chinese edition published in 2021. The book reviews and distills a decade of innovation in Chinese semantic research, from lexical and formal semantics to cognitive semantics and semantic change.
Both titles appear in TUP's New Developments in ‘Foreign Language and Literature Studies' series. Edited by LUO Xuanmin and ZHUANG Zhixiang and selected for the 2022 National Publication Fund program, the series charts a decade of development in China's foreign language and literature research.
The overseas publication of the two English monographs marks another step in TUP's ongoing efforts to bring Chinese scholarship to international audiences. In recent years, TUP has steadily deepened its commitment to enhancing the global impact of its authors and content, maintaining long-standing partnerships with numerous international publishers. TUP's titles have been licensed for publication in more than 30 languages across the world, and the international influence of its academic monographs continues to grow.
