On January 4th, MENG Qinghai, Vice Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, visited TUP to conduct research on the development of STEM journal clusters and digital platform. He also presided over a symposium. MENG was accompanied by JIANG Peixue, Vice President of Tsinghua University and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Chairman ZONG Junfeng, President QIU Xianqing of Tsinghua University Press (TUP) participated in the event.
MENG Qinghai introduced the purpose of his visit. He said that in recent years, our country has attached great importance to the publication of sci-tech journals. The purpose of his visit is to research the status quo, experience, problems and difficulties in the development of China’s STEM journals in our collective bid to build journal clusters, build digital platforms,and improve market appeal internationally. He wished to provide corresponding solutions and measures.
JIANG Peixue pointed out in his speech that it was Tsinghua University's mission to establish world-class STEM journals and respond to the national sci-tech innovation strategy. In recent years, the University has attached great importance to the publication of STEM journals and adopted a series of measures to promote the high-quality development of STEM journals.
SHI Lei, Deputy General Editor and Director of the Journal Center of TUP, introduced the progress made by TUP in building a world-class STEM journal cluster as well as developing and operating an international digital publishing platform. In-depth discussions were held and views on the internationalization, cluster construction, digital platform construction and academic ethics of STEM journals were exchanged at the symposium.
