He stated that the inauguration of this new series embodies their shared vision of empowering the next generation of learners. Harmen highlighted the robust growth of computer science research in China in recent years. Chinese scholars have seen a steady rise in publications in top international conferences and journals, contributing over 60% of global output in several core fields. He expressed full confidence that Chinese scholars will create high-caliber textbooks to benefit computer science education communities across the globe.

Professor GUO Yao, Vice Dean of the School of Computer Science at Peking University and representative of the series' chief editors, elaborated on the significance of the textbook series. He argued that artificial intelligence cannot replace educational publishing. While algorithms can generate customized quizzes or paper summaries, they are no substitute for peer-reviewed, systematically compiled pedagogical expertise. He emphasized that the goal of future computer science education extends beyond training technically skilled professionals; it aims to cultivate lifelong learners who are adaptable and forward-looking — individuals equipped with solid foundational knowledge, computational thinking, ethical reasoning, and the capacity for continuous learning, critical reflection and iterative self-improvement. The Springer-TUP Computer Science Textbook Series is designed precisely for this purpose: it imparts specialized knowledge and fosters integrated capabilities in learning, adaptability and innovation.
